Circa: 1930.
This handmade, one-of-a-kind antique Afshar rug from Persia, circa 1930, showcases a striking tribal composition with linked geometric medallions set against a warm terracotta field. Hand-knotted with a richly detailed border and crisp ivory and indigo accents, it offers the bold graphic character and collectible artistry that define vintage Persian village weaving. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Muted warm tones of terra cotta, indigo, ivory, rust, slate, and camel, with a terra cotta field.
Afshar is a tribal group of people located in Southwest Iran, the Caucasian mountains, and Turkey. Most Afshari rugs are produced in village workshops in Southwest Iran. They are woven mostly on wool in a squarish format. The design usually features three center medallions surrounded by small geometric motifs where the use of botehs in the design is common.
