Circa: 1940.
This antique Hamadan rug, circa 1940, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving with a striking geometric medallion composition and softly time-faded palette. Its ivory and sky blue field is framed by bold tribal borders, showcasing the character collectors prize in hand-knotted antique rugs and giving the piece an airy yet graphic decorative presence. An ideal accent for a bedroom, office, or entryway.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, sky blue, beige, taupe, camel, and pale pink, with a ivory field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
