Circa: 1940.
This handmade one-of-a-kind vintage Shiraz rug from Persia, circa 1940, showcases a striking tribal composition with three stacked diamond medallions set within a softly faded field and geometric border. Its hand-knotted character and beautifully time-softened palette of ivory, taupe, and pale blue give the piece exceptional decorative versatility while preserving the graphic clarity collectors prize in South Persian weaving. An ideal choice for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of taupe, ivory, pale blue, beige, sand, and camel, with a taupe field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
