One-of-a-kind vintage Amritsar rug with a softly faded taupe field and an intricate all-over floral design framed by a decorative border. Handmade with collector-friendly character, this large Indian carpet balances delicate botanical drawing with touches of rose, coral, sage, and raspberry that give the composition depth and decorative warmth. Its refined scale and subdued palette make it an ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining room, or bedroom.
Faded neutral tones of taupe, ivory, rose, sage, coral, brown, raspberry, and camel, with a taupe field.
Amritzar (also spelled Amritsar) is a city in the Punjab region of northern India that emerged as a significant carpet-weaving center in the late nineteenth century, producing fine rugs primarily for export to Europe and America. Amritzar rugs are closely related to Agra carpets in technique — woven on a cotton foundation with a Persian asymmetric knot — but tend toward softer, more pastel palettes and lighter, more airy field compositions.
Floral lattice, scrolling vine, and open medallion formats are common. Their supple handle, refined drawing, and gentle color make them perennial favorites for traditional and transitional interiors.
