This antique Persian Heriz rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece distinguished by its softly faded palette and bold geometric drawing. The open ivory field is framed by a pale blue border and articulated with angular Heriz motifs in camel and light brown, giving it the refined character collectors prize in early village carpets. Its understated, architectural patterning makes it an elegant foundation for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, pale blue, camel, light brown, and taupe, with a ivory field.
Located in north west Iran, Heriz is one of the most well known rug weaving centers. They are woven with geometric designs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical (Turkish / Ghiordes) knot. They usually come with a large central squarish medallion with pendants either ends.
