This antique Lilian rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian runner with an elegant all-over floral design set against a softly aged rose field. Its finely drawn vinery, palmettes, and angular floral motifs are framed by layered borders in powder blue and deep red, giving the piece a refined yet inviting decorative presence. A beautiful hand-knotted accent for a hallway, entryway, or bedroom.
Faded warm tones of rose, powder blue, brick red, ivory, slate, and dusty coral, with a rose field.
Lilian (Lilihan) is a town south of Arak making rugs similar in style to a Sarouk with a curvilinear/floral style. They are single wefted and cotton foundation with a supple handle. Like Sarouks, Lilians were exported to the United States in the 1920’s and 1930’s. They are single wefted with a soft floppy handle.
