This antique Persian Sarouk rug, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind carpet distinguished by its softly faded palette and refined all-over floral design. The spacious taupe-beige field is enlivened with terracotta, rust, and pale blue accents, framed by an elegant border that showcases the nuanced character prized in early 20th-century Sarouk weaving. Its decorative balance and timeworn patina make it an ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded warm tones of taupe, beige, rust, terra cotta, sage, pale blue, and ivory, with a beige field.
Sarouk is a village in western Iran north of Arak, famed for its 1920’s-1930’s floral rugs. They have both medallions and all over designs and are woven with asymmetric knotting on a cotton foundation. They often have a rich burgundy color as well as rose and rust grounds.
