Dimensions: 3'6" x 13'2" (107 cm x 401 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This antique Malayer runner, hand-knotted in Persia circa 1920, is a one-of-a-kind piece distinguished by its elongated lattice of geometric medallions and softly timeworn palette. The faded ivory field is enlivened with sky blue, taupe, and small rust accents, while the narrow border and tribal-inflected drawing showcase the character and craftsmanship collectors prize in early village weaving. An ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or narrow living space.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, sky blue, taupe, gray, rust, gold, and rose, with a ivory field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
