This antique Shiraz rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving distinguished by its softly faded palette and intricate geometric drawing. The spacious ivory field is framed by a layered border and anchored by a central diamond medallion, with scattered tribal motifs in warm camel and pale blue that showcase the character of hand-knotted craftsmanship. Its airy, timeworn presence makes it an elegant choice for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, camel, taupe, pale blue, cream, sand, and light brown, with a ivory field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
