Dimensions: 4'2" x 8'1" (127 cm x 246 cm).
Circa: 1910.
This antique Caucasian rug, circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind tribal weaving with a striking geometric field framed by multiple crisp borders. Its ivory ground is animated by rust, indigo, and soft blue motifs, including angular medallion forms and stylized elements that showcase the bold graphic character and fine hand-knotted craftsmanship prized in Caucasian rugs. An ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or office.
Muted warm tones of ivory, rust, brick, slate, sky blue, camel, and charcoal, with a ivory field.
Caucasian rugs have a stronger palette with geometric designs. Longer piled rugs are woven in the highlands and the shorter piled finer rugs in the lowlands. The Caucasus is the area bordered by the Black Sea on the left and the Caspian Sea to the right. The Caucasus mountains border the region from the northwest diagonally to the southwest. Rugs are usually woven on an all wool foundation or with wool warps and cotton wefts, occasionally mixed.
