This handmade one-of-a-kind antique Shiraz rug, woven in Persia circa 1930, showcases a striking tribal composition with a large stepped medallion set against a softly faded sky-blue field. Its hand-knotted character is expressed through crisp geometric motifs, ivory accents, and richly drawn border elements that give the piece both visual depth and collector appeal. A distinctive decorative anchor for a living room, dining room, or office.
Faded cool tones of sky blue, ivory, brown, taupe, camel, and slate, with a blue field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
