This antique Kashan rug, circa 1940, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian carpet distinguished by its softly faded all-over floral design and ghosted central medallion. Its pale ivory and sand-toned field gives the hand-knotted composition an elegant, understated presence, while the refined symmetry and delicate border details reflect the classic decorative vocabulary of Kashan weaving. An ideal choice for a living room, bedroom, or dining area.
Faded warm tones of ivory, cream, sand, beige, and taupe, with a ivory field.
An important area in central Persia for carpet weaving, producing magnificent court carpets in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. Kashan’s are finely woven on a cotton foundation and double wefted. They have intricate curvilinear designs primarily having a central diamond medallion with pendants on top and bottom in a traditional saturated color palette.
