Antique Malayer Runner Rug (2' x 17')
Dimensions: 2'10" x 17'10" (86 cm x 544 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This antique circa 1920 Malayer runner is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian rug with an elegant elongated medallion design and finely drawn floral detailing. Its softly faded palette of sky blue, rust, ivory, and blush gives the hand-knotted field a beautifully timeworn character, while the narrow proportions make it especially striking as a long gallery-style piece. An ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or along the side of a bedroom.
Faded cool tones of sky blue, rust, ivory, blush, taupe, brown, and sage, with a blue field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
