Antique Sarab Runner Rug (3' x 16')
Dimensions: 3'0" x 16'5" (91 cm x 500 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Sarab runner, woven circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian rug distinguished by its elongated format and a striking sequence of geometric medallions set along a soft ivory field. The design pairs crisp tribal drawing with a finely articulated border, while the aged palette of rust, camel, and brown gives the piece a beautifully time-softened character that collectors prize in early 20th-century village weaving. Hand-knotted and richly decorative, it is an ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or long gallery-like passage.
Faded warm tones of ivory, rust, brown, camel, taupe, brick, and charcoal, with a ivory field.

Sarab rugs are from the same area as Heriz and Serapi rugs in north west Iran. Sarab rugs usually come in a runner format with a camel grounds and geometric patterns. They are not woven in workshops, but cottage industry. These pieces are woven on smaller looms and are woven not following any plans or drawing but using designs handed down and drawn from memory and surroundings. Each piece is unique both in style and color placement, with the weaver free to express themselves in their own artistic style.
