Circa: 1930.
This antique Heriz rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian carpet with the bold geometric drawing and spacious village character that make Heriz weavings so enduringly collectible. Its pale ivory field is enlivened by softly faded sky blue and taupe-brown motifs, framed by a classic border that showcases the rug’s hand-knotted artistry and refined aged patina. A versatile statement piece for a living room, bedroom, or dining room.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, pale blue, taupe, beige, and light brown, with a ivory field.
Located in north west Iran, Heriz is one of the most well known rug weaving centers. They are woven with geometric designs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical (Turkish / Ghiordes) knot. They usually come with a large central squarish medallion with pendants either ends.
