This handmade, one-of-a-kind vintage Joshegan rug showcases a softly aged Persian village design with a pale camel field, sky blue corner spandrels, and a refined central medallion. Its hand-knotted character is expressed through an elegant, time-softened palette and intricate border work that give the piece a graceful, collector-friendly presence. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or dining area.
Faded warm tones of camel, ivory, sky blue, taupe, tan, light blue, and sand, with a camel field.
Joshaghan (also Joshegan) is a village in Isfahan province, central Iran, credited with originating the famous "Joshaghan" all-over repeat pattern — a bold diamond lattice enclosing stylized flowers — which became one of the most widely imitated designs in Persian carpet weaving. The pattern is believed to date to at least the seventeenth century.
Rugs woven in Joshaghan use a cotton foundation, asymmetric knotting, and a strong palette of deep red and indigo. They are woven with a medium pile and are prized both for their historical significance and for their handsome, enduring design.
