This antique Shiraz rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving with a striking lattice of stepped diamonds and a softly timeworn palette. Its hand-knotted construction and geometric border showcase the bold, graphic character prized in South Persian village rugs, while the faded camel and brown tones give it an earthy, collected presence. An ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or office.
Faded warm tones of camel, taupe, brown, tan, beige, and ivory, with a camel field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
