This antique Oushak rug, circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Turkish carpet distinguished by its luminous, softly faded palette and spacious large-scale drawing. The hand-knotted design features an elegant medallion-centered composition with floral and geometric motifs, framed by a broad decorative border that showcases the relaxed refinement prized in antique Oushak weaving. Oushak is a town in West Central Anatolia. Since the fifteenth century, it is the most famous and important rug producing center of Turkey. Particularly well known are the rugs known by their pattern such as “Large Medallion Oushak, “Star Oushak” “and Small medallion Oushak”.
