This antique Hamadan runner, circa 1940, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian rug with a softly timeworn palette and finely articulated tribal geometry. Its hand-knotted field features a sequence of small medallion forms and angular motifs framed by a classic border, with beautifully faded earth tones that give the piece an elegant, collected character. An ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or bedroom.
Faded warm tones of taupe, ivory, camel, beige, brown, sage, and ochre, with a taupe field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
