This antique Lilian rug, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian carpet distinguished by its softly faded palette and elegant all-over lattice of stylized botanical and geometric motifs. The terracotta field is framed by a spacious blue border, creating a refined traditional composition with remarkable decorative balance and the nuanced patina collectors prize in early 20th-century village weaving. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining room, or bedroom.

Lilian (Lilihan) is a town south of Arak making rugs similar in style to a Sarouk with a curvilinear/floral style. They are single wefted and cotton foundation with a supple handle. Like Sarouks, Lilians were exported to the United States in the 1920’s and 1930’s. They are single wefted with a soft floppy handle.
