Dimensions: 8'10" x 11'5" (269 cm x 348 cm).
This vintage Tibetan rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with a minimalist geometric composition that feels both serene and architectural. Its softly tonal field in ivory and cream is accented by large taupe and beige corner blocks, giving the design a refined modernist character and a beautifully understated decorative presence. An elegant choice for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, cream, beige, taupe, and light gray, with a ivory field.
Tibetan rugs are woven using a distinctive knotting technique unique to the Tibetan plateau — a loop technique quite different from the Turkish or Persian knot — which produces a characteristically thick, dense pile. Historically, Tibetan rugs served primarily as seating and bedding rather than floor coverings, and their bold, open compositions reflect this intimate scale of use.
Traditional designs include lotus and cloud motifs, geometric border systems, tiger and snow leopard stripes, and boldly stylized dragons — all drawn from the rich visual world of Tibetan Buddhism. Contemporary Tibetan-Nepalese rugs produced in Kathmandu workshops are among the world's most respected for the quality of their Himalayan wool and the range of their designs.
