Dimensions: 2'10" x 6'0" (86 cm x 183 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This antique Caucasian runner, circa 1920, is a hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind weaving with a softly aged palette and crisp tribal geometry. Its open ivory field is organized with repeating hooked motifs and framed by multiple guard borders, creating a refined balance of negative space, pattern, and timeworn character. A versatile accent for a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, beige, taupe, brown, camel, and gray, with a ivory field.
Caucasian rugs have a stronger palette with geometric designs. Longer piled rugs are woven in the highlands and the shorter piled finer rugs in the lowlands. The Caucasus is the area bordered by the Black Sea on the left and the Caspian Sea to the right. The Caucasus mountains border the region from the northwest diagonally to the southwest. Rugs are usually woven on an all wool foundation or with wool warps and cotton wefts, occasionally mixed.
