Dimensions: 2'9" x 3'7" (84 cm x 109 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique circa 1930 Kashan rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian pictorial weaving with an elegant figural garden scene set against an ivory field. Finely drawn human figures, flowering plants, a winding stream, and a distant landscape are framed by a narrow border, while saturated blues, reds, and soft greens give the composition remarkable decorative presence. A distinctive hand-knotted accent piece for an entryway, office, or bedroom.
Muted neutral tones of ivory, blue, red, sky blue, sage, brown, navy, and rose, with a ivory field.
An important area in central Persia for carpet weaving, producing magnificent court carpets in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. Kashan’s are finely woven on a cotton foundation and double wefted. They have intricate curvilinear designs primarily having a central diamond medallion with pendants on top and bottom in a traditional saturated color palette.
